A CROWDSOURCED COMPILATION OF STALL SHOUTOUTS
who we are
We jiak local was started in May 2021 by Elizabeth, 20. Growing up in Singapore meant that food has always been an integral part of her life. Her love for food also propelled her to pursue an education in the Food Science field. Elizabeth manages all of our platforms, with the occasional help of her family. We are 100% volunteer-run. Our platform was named as such as the term "jiak" traces back to Elizabeth's Teochew roots and is a Singapore synonym for eat. ​

We jiak local is an initiative for Singapore's F&B scene. We rely on crowdsourcing to help our F&B gain digital exposure. We started this initiative during Phase 2 (Heightened Alert) as many of our hawkers and coffeeshop stallholders were unable to keep up with the new measures implemented. Currently, we are focused on featuring our hawkers and coffeeshop stallholders, particularly the non-digitally savvy, as we believe that giving them the digital space may help with their business.
We need your help to support our stallholders to tide through this tough time. You can ​contribute by sending in your reviews via Instagram DM @wejiaklocal and we will repost them on our website with credit.

how you can help
We currently accept submissions of stall reviews via Instagram DM @wejiaklocal.
Simply include the following:
1. The name you want to be published with your review
2. A photo of the stall and its address
3. A photo of the stall's menu
4. A photo of the food you ordered
5. The name of the dish and the price
6. A brief review of the food and/or of the stall (eg. Don't just tell us it's nice, tell us why! You can include things like why you would or wouldn't go back- please be nice.)

You may include other details in your messages to us if you wish.
Please do not include profanities in the messages you send us.
All posts sent in will be moderated by our team and may be edited and posted.
We would like to enlist your help to contribute to our platform to help our stallholders out.
Our team does not earn anything from this platform, hence, you will not be paid for your reviews and photos you send in.
